Day 10 – The friendly local students – 热情的当地学生

Day 10

Hey everyone! Today is already my 10th day here. Time really flies! I think I mentioned it a lot of times. Anyway, today’s lecture ended at 11.30am, which was surprisingly early. The quiz that we had this morning was quite okay except that I had made a mistake. Lets’ forget about the quiz now since it was over. So, we went back to our dormitory rooms as we waited for the local students to bring us out again. While waiting, all of us went online and ate chips.

At 1.05pm, they arrived and it was time to go out J This time round, only 6 of us plus Betty and Star, making the 8 of us going out. We took bus 607 to 司门口 for shopping and foodJ The bus ride was 30 minutes and when we alighted, we saw this small sweet rice dumplings (6 in a stick and cost RMB 1.50). I shared it with Jas Min. Attached is the photo.

It tasted not bad, just that I found it quite hard to chew.

After which, we went to this area whereby there are a lot of 小吃. So we ended up buying the chicken stick (the one that I ate yesterdayJ). It was super HOT! Oh my god! I think the lady put a few layers of chilli on it. Then, Betty introduced us to this shop that sells nice fish soup. As we could not stand the hotness, she ordered cold green bean soup for us. It cooled the hotness, yea!

I do not really like the soup because the soup has high concentration of pepper but I like to eat 油条with that. Then we walked on further, eating 生煎包 and 豆皮. It was great! By now, we were more or less full so we went SHOPPING!

The fish soup and 油条

The first thing that I bought today is this local food product called 荆楚汉饼, in other words, 黄石港饼, I think. Hope that it will be niceJ The second thing that I bought Is a doraemon soft toy for my brotherJ It cost RMB 18 (S$ 3.60), it’s so cheap, of course must buy lar! The third thing that I bought is shoes for my brotherJ It cost RMB 50 (S$ 10)J The last thing that I bought is a purse for my grandma and it cost RMB 13.

After all the shopping, we took bus 514 back. By now, it was already 6.30pm so we reached our dormitory rooms at 7.15pm. At 7.40pm, we had dinner with Betty and Star at 堕落街. The mini- restaurant that we had dinner is called 柠檬乐 and that it is opened by a foreigner. The food was not bad J Then Star, who is usually quiet, performed for us. It was so unlike her usual self!!

Star dancing:)

By the time we returned back to the dormitory rooms, it was about 8.45pm. I had a shower and then spent some time packing my stuff for my 3D2N cruise from tomorrow to Sunday. Did I mention before? I think not. We will be going for a Yangtze River cruise tomorrow! Cool right? And that means there will be no posts for tomorrow and Saturday. Oh. Don’t miss me, my dear readers! I will be back on Sunday!

P.S. Do you guys realize that my photos are getting lesser? That’s because there’s nothing much to take photos of and also partly because of the poor internet connection that will take forever to upload photos, hahaJ But to view my photos, just click on the links shown on the right of the blog!

Reflections:

I really had a good day today! Can’t thank Betty and Star enough for bringing us out to eat and shop J Thanks a lotJ I also learnt something today.

A photo of Betty and Star on the bus:)

  1. The Chinese called both their maternal and paternal grandmothers “奶奶” and not “外婆” for maternal grandmothers as it sounds as if the maternal grandmothers are outsiders (外人) because of the word” ”.
  2. I have been using chopsticks wrongly! I struggled to learn but give up. As long as I can use the chopsticks to take food, it’s good enough, hahaJ

Photo of the day:

Don’t you guys think that the road name sound a bit funny?? J

More exciting stories are yet to come:)

Get ready for Day 13 post:)

24 more days before I return home:)
