Day 6 – Wuhan City Tour – 武汉一日游

Day 6

Today is a super tiring and busy day! Right now, I can feel that my muscles are aching and every part of my body wants to rest!! In addition, I am eating instant noodles as my dinner!! I shall not talk so much crap now and should start telling you my day today J

6.55am

I woke up 20 minutes before the meeting time. Having slept at 3.30am last night, I didn’t hear the alarm at all! Anyway, at least I still managed to wake up, haha J

7.15am

All of us gathered downstairs as we waited for the bus to arrive. At this time, many local students were awake and most were playing badminton. Come to mention about it, this is what I have realized after staying here for 6 days. The weather is about an hour ahead of the time, eg. If it is 6pm now, the weather looks like 7pm in Singapore. This is a totally different experience J At last the bus arrived and all of us boarded it. At 7.30am sharp, we left the campus.

As it was early, many of us were sleepy and soon the bus was in complete silence as almost everyone was sleeping and that included me too J

8am

We arrived at East Lake (东湖). It was a beautiful place. As I have been to West Lake (西湖), located in Hang Zhou, I can now say out loud that I have been to the East and West Lakes of China!!! However, it was a pity that we didn’t take the boat to circle around the lake or it would have been great.

8.50am

We departed to the Hubei Provincial Museum (湖北省博物馆), which is about 5 minutes away. By this time, the weather was starting to get hot that many started to complain and whining, which included me too, haha. J

9am

We officially started our museum visit and I started to get bored after about an hour or so as I am not the type of person who is really into exhibitions, etc.

2 hours later…

We departed to the place where we would be having lunch. On the bus, we were all sleeping again. At 12pm, we had our lunch at 凤凰楼酒店. The food was not bad and 武昌鱼 was awesome!

1.15pm

We boarded the bus to visit the famous Yellow Crane Tower (黄鹤楼). After 15 minutes, we reached! We alighted and waited for the tour guide to buy the tickets. While waiting, we took photos of the surroundings. By this time, the heat had become so unbearable that all of us could no longer tolerate and many had opened their umbrellas. As for me, I had put on my cap.

P.S. Today’s highest temperature is 35 degrees, hotter than Singapore.

1.30pm

We entered and had only an hour for sight-seeing at the Yellow Crane Tower (黄鹤楼). To allow more time for photo-taking, we immediately started our climbing of the stairs to reach the top of the tower but halfway through, we felt like giving up. The stairs seemed to go on forever. At last, we reached. Once at the top, we took photos of the beautiful scenery. 20 minutes later, we went down to level 2 (the top of the tower is at level 5) to look at the souvenir shop. I ended up buying several key chains to give to my family and friends.

2pm

We wanted to ring the big bell but it cost RMB 10 for 3 rings. So, we didn’t ring the big bell and spent some time there taking photos.

2.30pm

We gathered at the entrance and were given 10 minutes to shop at the shops located along the street there.

2.45pm

We departed to Jiang Han Walking Street (江汉步行街) for shopping. On the way there, most of us fell asleep after sweating profusely and using so much energy during the climb up the tower.

3.10pm

We reached at the opposite side of the Walking Street and had to cross the road. Like I had mentioned before in my yesterday’s post, crossing roads in China is really a challenge and a risk.

We had an hour to shop but then for me, there was nothing to buy and after all the climbing and walking, my feet were getting tired and all I wanted was to get back to the dormitory room for the air conditioning and my bed. Even as I am writing this post, I can still feel the tiredness.

4.30pm

We departed to our dormitory rooms. Along the way, I could not fight off the tiredness and slept throughout the journey. About 45 minutes later, we reached and I think I walked very fast as I wanted to get back and shower and blog.

Reflections:

I can hardly believe that in exactly 28 days later, I will be returning home, saying goodbye to this beautiful place. Wuhan is actually a beautiful place, pretty much like Singapore. Visiting the various places in Wuhan makes me love this place even more.

Photo of the day:

The first cat I see in China since arrival and it refused to turn around to face the camera! What an attitude!

More exciting stories are yet to come:)

Get ready for Day 7 post:)

28 more days before I return home:)
