I woke up as usual. Like what the weather forecast had stated, the weather today was quite windy and it was not as hot as compared to last week. We had OIE lecture on Geography, History and Culture of Wuhan City and Hubei Province in the morning. Thank god I am quite interested in this particular topic or I would have fallen asleep in the lecture.
OIE Lecture
In the afternoon, we went out to packet lunch back to the classroom and eat. Have I mention before? I think not. Anyway, today is Melissa's birthday so we wanted to give her a surprise. While her roommates distracted her, some of us went to buy the birthday cake from the nearby bakery shop. After everyone was ready and the birthday cake was set up, she was led in with her eyes covered by someone. When she was in front of the cake, we started to sing the birthday song! The cake cost about RMB 120, which is about S$ 24. The cake was not bad, haha J
Birthday Cake:)
After eating, at about 1.15pm, Dr. Lau briefly told us what to expect in our year 2 and 3 and which route to choose: BMS or BLT. (I asked him some questions related to BLT and BMS while on the way back to the classroom so he decided to let the class know about it too.) At 2pm, lecture 3 on the skeletal system officially started.
Maybe it was the air conditioning, I actually felt sleepy and I think I kind of dozed off halfway. After that, we watched some video clips. By the time we returned to the dormitory room, it was about 4pm. 15 minutes later, we decided to go packet dinner back from the nearby street. As I was not very hungry, I decided to buy 1 box of 小笼包 and chocolate milk tea as my dinner. If I am hungry later, there will be biscuits and chips in our room J
Reflections:
What I have learnt from the morning OIE lecture:
- There are 5 autonomous regions in China and they are: Xinjiang, Tibet, Inner Mongolia, Ning Xia and Guang Xi.
- There are a total of 56 ethnic groups in China, with Han as the majority.
- There are 14 neighbouring countries of China and some of them are India, Nepal, Korea and Russia.
- The Yangtze River is the longest river in China and even Asia but is the third longest river in the world.
- Wuhan has a population of about 9 million and is the capital city of Hubei Province.
